Joseph Charles Tilson (London, August 24, 1928) is a British visual artist, painter, sculptor and printmaker corresponding to the Pop Art movement, which he joined in its emerging beginnings in London. He is known for his works of reliefs with wood thanks to his knowledge of carpentry, making use of usually flat and very vivid colors typical in the artistic works of the Pop Art movement, drifting more and more to an abstraction already quite marked in the early 60s. His works are reminiscent of children's toys in their construction and schematization, and have a handmade look uncommon in the movement to which he is related, despite being interested in the creative use of technology, especially in his silkscreen prints and reproductions. In his works he also links spaces with emblematic images, famous people, and letters attributing sculptural value to them. ( thanks Wikipedia )
