Pablo Emilio Gargallo Catalán (Maella, Zaragoza, January 5, 1881 - Reus, Tarragona, December 28, 1934) was a Spanish sculptor and painter. He is considered one of the most important and innovative sculptors of the twentieth century, throughout his artistic life he combined classicism with experimentation. In El profeta, 1933, culminates his entire career, which incorporates the cubist avant-garde in a sculpture that combines volume and emptiness, and has a great energy of expressionist character.
