Picasso met Jaqueline Roque at the Madoura pottery workshop in Vallauris in 1952, and would share the rest of his life with her. Roque became his muse and model until he passed away in 1973. The couple married in 1961. Jacqueline had a daughter, Catherine Hutin, from a previous marriage. One of Jacqueline’s attractions for Picasso was her uncanny ability to inhabit and blend with now one picture in his musée imaginaire, now another. She could look like the perfect subject for El Greco yet also remind him of the beautiful women in Delacroix’s voluptuous harem paintings. thanks to museupicasso.cat
