1999 Nazario Luque Signed Art La Mercè Barcelona
1999 Nazario Luque Signed Art La Mercè Barcelona
1999 Lithographic Signed Art by Nazario Luque. Poster from La Mercè Barcelona Festival.
- Art hand signed and numbered by the artist.
- Number 112/300
- 75.5 x 56 cm / 29.72 x 2204 in.
- Condition, it seems to have been framed with an unsuitable glass, and the paper has suffered the wear of sunlight. In addition the fixation was deficient and damaged the back with adhesive residues, which are already inactive. Fortunately the printing, signature and numbering are in perfect condition. With a nice frame and a passe-partout it will look great, even the discoloration of the Arches paper will give it a very interesting look.
Nazario Luque, his homosexual eroticism and his daring exploration of the taboos then in vogue equated him to Pedro Almodóvar. Often crude and sordid, expressive and baroque, his comic strips take advantage of the differences between the care taken in drawing and grotesque details (overdimensioned sexes, gestures). A great subversive potential can be found: this is how Anarcoma 2 (published in Belgium under the title Cultures) imagines a military order that kidnaps and tortures homosexuals, transvestites and transsexuals to put them in the hands of the police. In this way, adjectives such as agitator, transgressor, polemic or provocateur are quite common when referring to his work.
