"I have loved paintings more than life," wrote Jean Planque around 1972. "...The painting brutally subdues me in its totality...it makes me feel the mystery.... Emotional thing... Paintings!", the respected Swiss collector would energetically note.
Planque was then 62 years old; suffering from health problems, he withdrew from the art world and began to write his memoirs: Picasso, Dubuffet, Klee, Clavé, Auberjonois are some of the names that came out of his pen. Memories of the contacts with the artists and the circumstances that determined the formation of a magnificent collection of 20th century art. 250 paintings and 500 engravings constitute the patrimony of the current Fondation Jean and Suzanne Planque. Sixteen percent of these funds are part of the selection that can be visited from today until January 5 at the Picasso Museum. "Jean Planque Collection. The Novel of a Collector" brings together, in addition to the artists mentioned above, works by Cézanne, Klee, Monet and Odon, Hans Berger, Giacometti and Joan Miro, among others.  10/10/2002, Barcelona, article from "ABC" spanish journal
