Frank Rijkaard FC Barcelona Membership Card 2016/2017 Season

2016/2017 Player Membership Card belonging to former FC Barcelona player Frank Rijkaard. This card is renewed annually and is available to former players at the “Agrupació de Jugadors del FC Barcelona” office. The player did not collect it and it remained at the offices; during the Camp Nou refurbishment works, it was discovered along with others… all in perfect condition.

Rijkaard, who came to Barça with the reputation of being a calm, sensible and honourable man, began his time in charge alongside fellow countryman Henk Ten Cate, ex-coach at Nac Breda, and Eusebio Sacristán, ex-member of the Dream Team, as assistant coaches.

As coach he was very open and communicative with all his colleagues and players. His footballing philosophy came from the Dutch school, characterised by attacking football, the importance of pressure and playing wide. He also focussed on defence, after five years in the Italian league as a player with AC Milan. At any event, he remained loyal to his principles and was a fine example of how to behave both on and off the pitch. Frank Rijkaard’s time at FC Barcelona was very positive between 2004 and 2006, with two League titles and the club’s second Champions League in 2006, although this record was not maintained in his last two seasons (2006/07 and 2007/08)
