Frédéric Déhu FC Barcelona Membership Card 2017/2018 Season

2017/2018 Player Membership Card belonging to former FC Barcelona player Frédéric Déhu. This card is renewed annually and is available to former players at the “Agrupació de Jugadors del FC Barcelona” office. The player did not collect it and it remained at the offices; during the Camp Nou refurbishment works, it was discovered along with others… all in perfect condition.

He joined the club from Lens and spent just one season with Barça, the 1999–2000 campaign. He was a tall, lanky defender, also capable in the air. However, he found himself competing with established players, which made it difficult for him to secure a place in the team. The following season he joined PSG, where he played for four seasons.

An undisputed first-team regular at Lens in France, he joined Barça, where he found it difficult to secure a place in a well-established defence featuring players such as Abelardo and Frank De Boer. However, he made the most of the opportunities given to him by then-manager Louis van Gaal. The first, in fact, came in the team’s opening competitive match of that season, 1999–2000. Barça faced Valencia in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup at Mestalla. Déhu came on in the 50th minute, replacing Pep Guardiola. The ‘Che’ went on to defeat the Catalans 1-0. The 3-3 draw in the second leg meant the title went to Valencia. A season with few minutes on the pitch and interest from PSG saw Frédéric Déhu return to France. His professional career, following a spell at Marseille, curiously ended in the Spanish league and also wearing the blue and red of Barcelona; in this case, however, it was the Levante shirt, where he played during the 2006-07 season.
