Sinfonic King Crimson, director and set designer Iago Pericot stated: ‘We wanted to create an audio-visual show based on music and space, without any explicit text.’ To this end, he reduced the nine hours of King Crimson music available to an hour and a half and designed a performance with a fantastical, sometimes delirious storyline. On a staggered stage, the actors moved with a type of movement and gestures that were difficult to classify as what was then understood as ‘dance’ or ‘mime,’ always in relation to the space and the visual elements that composed it. In Pericot's words, it was ‘an abstract show, something like a Kandinsky painting in motion’ and, like Robert Wilson's, therefore open to all kinds of interpretations.
